Ti voglio bene Mamma…
Today is my mom’s birthday! And in wishing her a happy birthday, I want to say “Ti Voglio Bene Mamma” a phrase that was beautifully displayed across Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall 2016 collection, which paid homage to all the mothers. I loved this collection and Dolce & Gabbana’s appreciation for Italian culture in all of their ad campaigns.

In simple terms, “ti voglio bene” means I love you. But what about “ti amo”?? “Ti amo” is reserved for those who you are “in love with”– i.e. the romantic sense. So “ti voglio bene” is I love you for family and friends. When you look at the words, it translates to “I want you fine” but the real meaning shows affection and adoration.

So salute, mamma! I hope that we can go to Italy as a family together soon. Here we are in Roma, the one and only time we were in Italy together. I had a stomach virus and she travelled all the way to Europe with a gown for me to try on for my boyfriend’s senior ball. Ti voglio bene, Mamma.
